My July Favourites

Hey blogfam! How are you guys doing?

It’s that time when I look back at the whole month and pick the things that turned into my faves! Personally, the whole of July is my favourite (for obvious reasons!). But there have been a few things that gave me immense joy. So here I am to share them with you all.

Psssttt…Going on a secret mask-meet mission

It was at 7.00 in the evening in the beginning of July when my extended family suddenly made some plan to meet up. We live in different places – distance-wise – but are a close-knit group. Now, in the current covid situation, meeting up seemed to be a huge task. But all were excited as we hadn’t seen each other for a long time. And I was eager to meet my cousins!

The meeting point was fixed as some deserted lane midway – to reduce the travel time. So there we were, all of us making a quick stop right on the main road with face masks on! As we got down from our vehicles to meet and greet, we spotted some police vans in the background doing their usual night rounds before the curfew. We hurriedly got back into our cars and drove off!! But it was a fun ‘mask meet’ – as we all love to call it!

Watching SSR’s last movie – Dil Bechara

The death of the popular Indian actor Sushant Singh Rajput has increased his fan following. As per news report, his recent release Dil Bechara on popular digital platform Disney+ Hotstar got millions of views on the first day itself. For the uninitiated, Dil Bechara is a remake of the popular Hollywood movie The Fault in our Stars. And since I had seen that too, I wanted to see this one as well, especially because it was his last film. I watched it the day it got streaming. Yes, it was a bit emotional, but a few tears ain’t hurt anyone, right?

Enjoying my quarantine birthday

Well, if you’ve read my OOTD ALERT blog post, then you might know that it was my quarantine birthday last week. I enjoyed every bit of it – the loving wishes from family, virtual calls with friends, special lunches and dinners, the surprise cake, the lovely decoration on the wall (to make the day special for me), and yes my red shimmer dress too!! Honestly, I couldn’t stop smiling and feeling blessed!

8 Lipstick Rules You Must Follow

Lipstick is every girl’s best friend – especially when we’re posing and pouting for the perfect selfie! No matter where we are going or what we are wearing or whatever the occasion is, wearing a lipstick never goes wrong. Nevertheless, there are some rules that one must keep in mind before gliding that colour on your lips. To celebrate National Lipstick Day today, I bring you some lipstick rules you must follow.

Rule #1 – Exfoliate-exfoliate-exfoliate

Treat your lips just how you would treat your face or skin. Make it a point to exfoliate your lips with a lip balm before applying lipstick on them. Repeat this regime daily.

Rule #2 – Less is more

It is wise to highlight only one feature of your face. If you are going for bold lips, then keep the rest of your face make-up minimal to get that perfect balance.

Rule #3 – Say no to glitter

“Shimmer can look cheap,” says New York city based make-up artist Troy Surratt. “Look for lipsticks with a creamy finish.” Totally agree!

Rule # 4 – Prime time

Using a primer before wearing lipstick is a must as it not only gives the lipstick shade a better colour contrast but also helps your lipstick last longer (psssttt…. you don’t have to keep re-applying it!).

Rule # 5 – Line it up

They say, a lip liner can either be your best friend or your worst enemy. In either case a lip liner has a significant role in achieving that perfect pout. So find the right lip liner for you–probably a shade closest to your lips–and outline your lips first, then wear lipstick. This will define the shape of your lips.

Rule # 6 – Start from the middle

Start your lipstick applying session from the centre of your lips and then spread outward with the help of lip brush.

Rule # 7 – Blotting works

Patting your lips with a tissue or blotting paper comes handy when you need the shade to look deeper and last longer. Wear a lipstick and use blotting, then give it another go with a second coat. This will also add shine to your lips.

Rule # 8 – Remove it

Always remove your lipstick before hitting the bed. Scrub your lips, then use a lip balm or a moisturizer. This process will leave the soft and lips hydrated.

OOTD ALERT!!

Hey my lovely readers. Guess what? It’s my birthday. Yaaayy! I am so excited as I officially turn 20 today. Wait, what? I can’t believe my teenage years have ended so fast. And I’ve stepped into the next decade. Well, I am really happy on turning 20. Although I can’t move out of the house due to the pandemic, I did a photoshoot of myself with my special outfits of the day. On that note, I am happily sharing my looks for the day.

The Princess Look

In this picture, you can see me wearing a long resort wear strappy outfit. I’ve teamed it with a light touch of make-up and a little floral clip on my hair. In the other picture, I have added a tribal neckpiece to give it a boho look. I find the look really pretty. What say?

The Brunch Look

This blue polka dotted jumpsuit goes well with a casual brunch outing with friends. I have teamed it with big silver hoops and a yellow suitcase bag to give out those perfect senorita vibes. I pretty much love this look. Do you?

The Shimmy Look

Here, I’ve dressed in a red shimmer dress combined with golden leaf-shaped headband and crystal earrings! Don’t miss the hint of colour on my eyes and glossy lips! In one of these pictures, I’ve carried a clutch and worn heels too. Looks over the top? But perfect for some sparkle!

The Corporate Look

Last but not the least comes the corporate look for that boss –vibes style. Here I have combined a pant suit with blazer in lush pink for that feminine touch. Check out the cool frames in the picture. That’s my work station look for you.

4 Phone Apps I’m Obsessed With

The digital world is incomplete without phone apps (applications) that are available in a huge number today. Confused about which app is useful and helpful for you? Don’t be, as I share my list of favourite apps that I’ve got hooked on to. It might help you make a smart choice.

  1. Instagram

This one stays on top of my game for obvious reasons. I think it is the best social networking site for millennials today. A recent data on some site showed that Instagram is being used by billions of people worldwide. I’m so much in love with this app that I can almost announce that I cannot live without it. There’s so much in it to that the user can try to stay actively engaged at home. It allows one to share pictures and fun videos from daily lives, edit filters, post stories and engage with others. The fact that I use this lovely app many times a day is proof enough that it’s my current all-time favourite.

2. Canva

Another wonderful app that grabbed my attention some few weeks back is Canva. OMG! It’s so amazing. It is an online graphic design publishing platform that allows the user to create social media graphics, presentations, logos, posters and other visual content. Actually, I got to know about this app after I started blogging. Now I use it frequently for my blog images on WordPress as well as on Insta stories or posts. It is easy to use and less time consuming too.

3. InShots

My third most favourite app is InShots. It is a visual content editing app that lets you trim a video, split it, remove a certain section, adjust the speed of your footage, add amazing filters, music, text, animated stickers and even merge different clippings together. It is very efficient to use and also a fun app to work with.

4. Netflix

Hah! This has always been on my favourites list, but has become a hero ever since the post-pandemic lockdown. If there’s one app I’ve become really obsessed with right now, it is none other than the Netflix. One of best entertainment apps on the OTT platform that shares amazing visual content.

Enjoyed my post? Then like, share, and also follow and subscribe my blog. I’m eager to know what are your favourite phone apps, if you share them in the comments section below.

20 Things To Do Before Turning 20

Turning 20? Well, it’s a bigger milestone than most people make it out to be. First and foremost, you’re no longer in your teens, wow! At the verge of turning 20 myself, if I say I am super excited, that’ll be a gross understatement. There’s a lot to do at (and after) 20, and I’m already looking forward to all of that. But before that, I’m sharing a checklist of 20 things I’ve done before I hit my BIG 20.

Read, enjoy and make sure you start ticking your boxes too!

  1. Travelling to another country

I am placing this as number 1 as I believe travelling to another country is a wonderful experience. I was 12 when I first went to Thailand. Then came Singapore, Dubai and Indonesia (Bali) and I must say they were all equally amazing trips in their own ways. Travelling makes you wiser and smarter. So I highly recommend it at any age you are in, but go for it guys.

2. Watching a live match

Last year I went to see a live cricket match with my dad at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was an IPL match between Mumbai Indians v/s Kolkata Knight Riders. I had great fun witnessing the cricketers playing right in front of the audience. Everyone should see a live match before 20. There’s something exhilarating about watching a match live in a stadium.

3. Trying my luck at the casino

I’d been to Deltin Casino in Goa just after 18. Whoosh! It was like stepping into a different world altogether. The larger than life ship right in the middle of Mandvi river where it was located, the tight security, the enormously high casino tables, the gaming – and winning, the live stage show, the lounge with meal spread, it was all to die for. Try it to believe it – but make sure you’re 18 and above.

4. Getting inked

There’s nothing cooler than inking your body with a fun tattoo – a great way to express yourself. I got my initial tattooed on my wrist last year and it gave me a high. So go for it but make sure that you get some design that really means to you and won’t regret after a while.

5. Being addicted to an OTT show (and letting it ruin your routine)

I have done this a lot – Friends, Riverdale, Greenhouse Academy, Alexa & Katie, and my current fav, 13 Reasons Why. So get involved in a Netflix series that you have no idea about what’s happening around you. Spend hours binge-watching it. Once done, re-watch it all over again when it appears on Television too.

6. Going on a road trip

Hitting the road for a long trip is the liveliest experiences one can have. I love travelling even if it’s just a simple road trip to a known destination. There’s nothing more enjoyable than chilling out on the road when the sun warms the sky, seeing people go by, enjoying the scenic wonders, and simply forgetting your worries. It’s totally mesmerizing. I don’t remember the count but I’ve been to many road trips mostly with my family. An important note from me – (don’t miss this!)

7. Trying an adventure ride

This may seem trivial but is one of the most important things one should try before 20. Sitting on a really scary amusement ride is not only thrilling but also helps you to face your fears in life. Speaking about me, I am the kind of person who wants to try things at least once in my lifetime. So Aqua Imagica it was in Lonavala! I tested my fears on a really scary roller coaster ride. Though I kept screaming out loudly all the time, I later realized how much fun I really had.

8. Going on a family vacay to return on the morning of your preliminary exams

Sounds unbelievable? I’ve done it. All you need to do is pack your bags and travel to your favourite destination and return just a few hours short of your exams. Here’s my experience. I travelled to Goa with family (my parents’ wedding anniversary celeb) and returned 3 days later. Just a few hours left before my practical exams for boards. We took the 3.30 am flight from Goa, reached home at 6.30 am and left for my exam at 7.30 am. The exam was to begin at 8 am. A bit risky but it’s worth trying out at least once before 20.

9. Adopting a cute pet

They say, pets are your best companions for life. You should definitely consider adopting a pet and taking care of them before you turn 20. It’s a different and great experience and makes you compassionate. You also learn to take care of others and act responsible too. I was too young when we got a pair of cute lovebirds (we named them Bunty and Babli) and later I had a fish aquarium at home. Now wondering what next. Any suggestions?

10. Losing some friends and gaining some new

It sounds hard but it’s necessary. If you aren’t losing your friends, either you or them is staying the same and reaching a saturation. When you are young you must allow yourself to evolve for newer experiences in life. Honestly speaking, I have lost a few of my good friends and also made some new ones along the way, only to later realize that it helped me grow as a person. So it’s okay to be not okay with some ‘friends’ in life.

11. Turning the volume to shake a leg

This is something I really love to indulge in. When you want to express yourself and think that it is difficult for you to speak, the only thing you need to do is turn up the volume of the music and dance your heart out. I highly recommend you to try this out. It’s the best therapy not only when you are happy but also when you’re in a gloomy mood.

12. Eating your heart out

This is absolutely not the time right time to go on crash diets and stay away from your favourite foods for the fear of gaining weight. This time is to enjoy and just let yourself be and to indulge in what you like. I am a kind of person who loves to eat and I am happy to say that I don’t stop myself from eating what I love. So guys, just allow yourself to eat everything, even a bit of junk food is okay.

13. Enjoying Taylor Swift music on some level

You should definitely listen to this before 20. Not because Taylor Swift is my favourite but her music is empowering. You just fall in love with the lyrics on the first go. I love all her songs but the one I admire the most is “Look what you made me do”.

14. Learning a creative skill

Learn something creative – be it singing, painting or even cooking. Just try something new in life. I have learnt a few creative skills along the way – when I was small, I joined an art class, learnt swimming (though I don’t swim anymore), skating, calligraphy and even the art of living.

15. Learning to say no

Be clear and honest in your approach but don’t hesitate to express yourself and say what you truly what – even if means saying no to something. When we say no, we think we’re being selfish to others. To avoid that, we end up saying yes on countless occasions. So let that guilt go, and start standing up to what you really want to say or do. The world will appreciate your sincerity.

16. Laughing at yourself

If laughter is the best medicine, laughing at yourself could be a wonder pill. The use of humour increases feelings of positivity by helping us to look at the ‘bright side’ rather than just focusing on the negatives. Laughing at yourself means taking away that power from others who laugh at you.

17. Stopping yourself from thinking what others think

This is something I would definitely advice you to do. Just do whatever you like and stop caring about what others will think. This way, you’re allowing yourself from bowing down to people who’re being judgemental. It’s your life so don’t waste your time thinking about others. Honestly, I am the type of person who cares a lot and puts others before myself. But over the years I’ve learnt that it saps your energy and poisons your mind. Stop thinking of others, as those who really love you will never judge you anyway.

18. Finding beauty in everything

In this never-ending race called life, it’s important to stop, take a breath and just allow yourself to see the beauty around you. It could be a simple act of kindness or reaching out to those you trust. Focus on the small things that make you happy and give you utmost joy. Then you will understand that beauty is everywhere, you just need to look at the right thing.

19. Falling in love with yourself

Instead of falling in love with others, fall in love with yourself first. Let yourself know that you are not less than anyone in this world. Tell yourself that you are the best even if you’re not perfect. There’s a beauty in imperfection. Be like Geet from the movie Jab we met. She proudly announces, “Main apni favourite hoon” (I’m my own favourite).

20. Finding your passion and doing it

Last but not the least, make a bucket list of things you’ve always dreamt of doing and do them. For this you need to understand where your passion lies and following it, to help you thrive and prep yourself for the professional world that lies ahead. It could be it mundane things like getting a piercing done or highlighting your hair, or going for river rafting or learning to fly a plane! Let your free spirit run wild and just do it before you are too ‘grown up’. After all, it’s all about dreaming big, and chasing the maximum life (pun intended!).

Think Pink: 3 Ways to Wear It

Hello readers. What’s up?

Before I begin with my blog post, I just want to share some news that may look small but is big enough for me – who’s new to blogging!! Guys, I have reached 50+ followers on my blog!!! Yayyyy! I want to thank each one of you for your kind support.

Now coming back to our current topic – PINK. What comes to your mind when you think of this sugary and mushy hue? I’m sure most of us (girls, I mean!) are quite fond of this cute colour. Think Pink! Today, I share my ideas on how to make the most of this colour by teaming it with other hues. Take a look at these colour combos.

1. Pink with Mint Green

Pink is one of the best colours that can be paired with mint green. It adds a lovely touch of vibrance to the entire outfit. One can wear this beautiful combination to weddings as well.

2. Pink with Purple

Personally, I love this colour combo a lot. It is suited best to women of all ages. If you wanna wear something truly bold, then team a pink top with purple skirt and you’re good to go! It’s the perfect choice for a date!

3. Pink with Yellow

One of the best colour combinations I believe, though many people stay away from teaming pink with yellow. Pairing these two bold colours makes for an interesting combo and creates a lasting impression on onlookers. I suggest wearing it for a girls’ day out. Try it to believe it.

Well, JULY is here, and it’s time to reveal the personality traits of people born in this month. So, July born people, are you excited? Being a July born myself , I am pretty excited .

Firstly, let me reveal a little bit about July born people . They’re born under the influence of the zodiac sign cancer and carry some interesting traits. These people are emotional, intuitive and also overly protective about the things that they really love a lot. This was just a short description about them. If you wanna know about their characteristics, scroll down and have a look on the things that make them stand out.

#1 They tend to have mood swings

Cancers are known for being moody due to the complexity of their emotions, which can quickly jump from extremely happy to extremely sad. When a Cancer is up, they may be amazing, but if they are upset or uncomfortable, they’ll immediately seek refuge in their shells.

#2 They are complicated and they have many sides to them

Cancers have a very complex nature, and not many people know how to handle someone so complicated, raw, and pure. Their personality is made up of many layers and those born under this month are hard to put into any ‘one’ box.

#3 They dislike unnecessary things

Cancerians are quite determined and seldom do they beg for help! They are always popular because of the charm that they possess. They are very caring. However, nonsense is a huge turn off to them. It’s like they are allergic to it. Unnecessary things or talks pisses them off. If you keep doing nonsense things around them, you are just testing their patience.

#4 They have a strong sense of sympathy

Cancers have a great ability to understand and sympathise with others. They prioritize about other people’s feelings first. They might be in a lot of trouble but they will always care about you if you are in pain. It doesn’t matter physically or mentally but these people always care about their friends.

#5 They are forgiving but never forget

Cancerians are usually pretty bad on taking revenge as they think it would affect their character. Hence, they will avoid talking to the concerned person and will mind their own business. They would recall the bad things you did to them for a lifetime, but after a certain period of time they just let it go and do not burn their hearts for revenge.
