Hey lovely people. June 13 is World Gin Day, and so I’m dedicating today’s blog post to gin, the favourite liquid of many. Let’s celebrate!
The idea for this post germinated with an email that I came across a few days back about how this day got started and why is it celebrated. So here I am sharing it all with you, along with a few gin recipes.
Celebrated since 2009, World Gin Day is always the second Saturday in June, founded by Neil Houston and Emma Stokes, great gin connoisseurs, we can’t thank them enough!
Gin cocktails have become the talk of town today. Its citrusy, spicy blending notes are making cocktail experiences thrive and get-togethers more memorable. Whether a classic concoction or as a cocktail, this day is all about enjoying our favourite liquid.
This World Gin Day, let’s raise a toast to gin! Be your own bartender and enjoy this botanical marvel with unique concoctions that refine your taste buds.
Presenting some favourite fluids:
Classic Tanqueray & Tonic

Ingredients:
50 ml Tanqueray London Dry Gin
150 ml Indian Tonic Water
Method: Fill a large wineglass with ice. Pour in Tanqueray and tonic water. Stir well. And finally, garnish with a fresh citrus slices. You can choose from oranges, lemon, lime or even musambi.
Mango & Gin

Ingredients:
45 ml Tanqueray London Dry Gin
150 ml Tonic
30 ml Mango juice
2 mint sprig
1 Star Anise
2 pieces Raw Mango
Method: Add the gin and mango juice to a glass and stir. Then tap the mint sprig and add the star anise. Fill the glass with crushed ice, top it up with tonic and stir well. In the end, garnish with Mint Sprig and Raw Mango. Your drink is ready.
Berried Tanqueray
Ingredients:
60 ml Tanqueray London Dry Gin
30 ml Cranberry juice
10 ml Lime juice
60 ml Tonic
60 ml Soda
1 Fresh Thyme
Method: Add gin to a glass, along with cranberry juice and lime juice. Tap the thyme, fill the glass with ice, top it up with tonic, soda and stir well. Garnish with a thyme sprig.
Pro Tip: You could also freeze some berries and flowers from your garden in ice and add it to make #GardeninMyGlass
